Steve was a friend from the time we were at QEGS. We enjoyed good times together watching Stags, playing football for Santos, on holiday in the late '70s and evenings out in Mansfield. I moved away from Mansfield in the early '80s but in recent years I've seen Steve at some Stags away matches. Steve's attitude to his illness has been an inspiration.

So many happy memories of Steve, my life long friend. From the early days aged 14 sitting on the Cockell wall listening to soul to recent times supporting each other as we continued to play the music we love both at soul nights and having Steve as a guest on my radio show. You will be so missed, a lovely man. Deepest sympathy to Carmen, Chris and Stuart and all his family xx Paul and Denise Lightly xxx

So sad to hear this news I remember Steve used to contribute to the radio Nottingham phone in as did I I also commute to stags games from Derby area and remember speaking to him in the lower tier in the conference days I have since migrated to upper tier and haven't seen him recently nice guy will be missed from Haydn

I am I and you are you, whatever we were to each other that we still are. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? Life means all that it ever meant, it is the same as it ever was.
